Hi, I’m Keegan, a Cape Town home cook, food lover and firm believer that food is my love language.

If I love you, I’m feeding you. If you’re sad, I’m feeding you. If we’re celebrating, I’m feeding you. And if we argue? Well… you’re probably still getting a buffet.

I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, surrounded by family, music, dancing, singing, laughter and, most importantly, delicious food. Some of my fondest memories are centred around the kitchen, family gatherings and those meals that somehow turned into stories we still talk about today.

My late grandparents, Ma Thelma & Pa Roy, played a huge part in my love for food. Ma was honestly the Hostess with the Mostest. Her vetkoek with sausage or steak with caramelised onions were legendary. She had a way of making food feel like home, it was comforting and made with love.

Then there was Pa, who taught me how to braai. Friday braais at their family home were an entire experience swimming, dancing, music, family and, of course, amazing food. Pa believed in making his own marinades and using fresh rosemary. My job was to chop that rosemary SUPER fine. Looking back, those little moments taught me more about flavour and cooking than I realised at the time.

And then there’s my gorgeous Mom, who is what I call a 14-colours cook. She can casually say, “I didn’t really cook,” while standing next to what looks like a full-on buffet. Her ability to flavour a meal is something I’ve definitely picked up from her.

I’m not a Chef, I’m a Home Cook. And honestly, that’s exactly why I created this space.
